Here is the list for this week :
News of the World : (Movie, Netflix, 120 minutes)
This movie is gorgeous to look at and when there is Tom Hanks you can be sure of a stellar performance. Helena Zengel in her international debut is superb too. Both of these got a good chemistry and I would love to watch a series on their adventures together. The News reading scenes were lot of fun and by the time the movie ends, you are bound to have a smile on your face. The pace of the movie is slow at times but the payoff is there. Try not watching the trailer.
American Vandal (Series, Netflix, 2 seasons, 8 episodes each, 35 mins)
This a parody of True Crime shows like Making a Murderer, however, the mystery is genuinely absorbing and thought provoking too. Season 1 and 2 are about different cases and I have seen the 1st season only yet. Check out the trailer.
Sharp Objects (Miniseries, Hotstar, 8 episodes, 55-60 mins)
This psychological thriller based on the novel of same name from Gillian Flynn. Amy Adams is superb and so is the other cast. If you love a good mystery, this is your show for the weekend. Here is the trailer.
Sound of the Nation by Amit Trivedi (Video, YouTube, 12 mins)
One of my most favorite YouTube videos. You might have seen it before, but it is always worth a rewatch. Makes me happy every time I watch it. Also, apart from all the singers, I love the acapella band too. Watch out for the guy at 7:43, he is having so much fun.
5. The Report (Movie, Amazon Prime, 119 mins)
This is a political drama based on the investigation of CIA’s torture techniques post 9/11. An intriguing fast paced movie with an ensemble cast. Check this one out. Trailer here.
